IBM Lotus Notes clients - be it
Laptops, Desktops or Terminal Server/Citrix clients - with panagenda MarvelClient automatically connect to the MarvelClient configuration database on their respective mail server to check for new changes either
- during client startup,
- when the first server connection is made (for clients that do not have a network connection during client startup),
- in regular intervals during the entire notes session
- and/or at client shutdown.
The configuration database is simply replicated across all mail servers to ensure a
single point of administration in any given replica by authorized administrators. MarvelClients can also be configured to check for new changes on other servers; the mail server, however, is the recommended setup because it is usually the most scalable and near maintenance-free setup.
Any
new changes are downloaded incrementally - thereby reducing respective network traffic and processing time to an absolute minimum. One-time, frequent and permanent changes are applied immediately after the
original Lotus Notes login dialog, real-time actions span the entire Notes session to ensure that e.g. end-users always connect to nearest servers and attachments are blocked or compressed.
